We, the undersigned, as Canadian Citizens, petition the government to rescind the recent appointment of Alison Redford to the board of directors of the Invest Alberta Corporation.
Alison Redford, Alberta’s 14th premier, resigned in March 2014 following a series of scandals that shook the public’s trust. Her actions, including the improper use of government aircraft, excessive travel and staff expenses, and controversial plans to construct a personal living space known as the “sky palace” atop the QEII building, demonstrated a significant misuse of public funds and a breach of public trust.
Given her history of ethical lapses and the misuse of government resources, we believe that appointing Alison Redford to a position that promotes Alberta as an investment destination is both inappropriate and counterproductive. The board of the Invest Alberta Corporation should be composed of individuals whose integrity and commitment to ethical governance are beyond reproach.
It is crucial for the Invest Alberta Corporation’s credibility and the public’s trust that appointees to such positions exemplify the highest standards of ethical conduct. Alison Redford’s past actions have shown a disregard for these standards, and her appointment undermines the principles of accountability and transparency essential for effective governance.
We call upon the government to rescind Alison Redford’s appointment and to ensure that future appointments to the board of the Invest Alberta Corporation are made with the utmost consideration for the integrity and ethical standing of the candidates. This is crucial for restoring public trust and ensuring the effective governance of the Invest Alberta Corporation.
By taking this action, the government can reaffirm its commitment to ethical governance and the responsible management of public resources.
